Locations that help you gain lore and more!

When you watch your favorite Disney movies, it’s easy to get swept up in the story and the songs. Sometimes, though, it’s the very places where Disney movies take us that sweep us off our feet! From fantastical landscapes to beautiful castles and more, the locations where our favorite stories take place can be just as captivating as the stories themselves.

The same can be said for Location cards in Disney Lorcana TCG.

Locations are one of the four types of cards you’ll find in the game—the other three being Characters, Actions, and Items. Location cards were introduced into the game with Into the Inklands when the Illumineers began to explore more of the realm of Lorcana and players were introduced to many locations across the land.

I’ll share some of my favorite Location cards below, but first - what is a Location, and how do they work in the game?

COST: Locations have a cost and can be inkable or not, just like any other card in Disney Lorcana. To play a Location, simply use your ink to pay the cost.

WILLPOWER: All Locations have Willpower. The Willpower is how much damage the Location can take before being banished. Locations can be dealt direct damage or challenged by opposing characters—and when they are challenged, the challenging characters take no damage.

LORE: Some Locations have lore pips indicating how much lore you will gain from the Location. Other Locations will gain lore based on whether you have characters at the Location. Players gain lore during the SET phase at the beginning of your turn. (Ready, set, draw!) As long as a Location is in play that gains lore, you get it!

MOVE COST: All Locations also have a move cost. This is the amount of ink you have to pay to move a character to that Location. There are various reasons why you would want to move a character to a Location. Sometimes the Location itself has an ability you may want to use, and some characters have abilities that are in effect when they are at a Location.

ABILITY: Some Locations have an ability. Abilities can range from static abilities to abilities dependent on characters moving to or being at the Location. There are even Locations that will give characters there an ability.

Locations can be fun and powerful in your Disney Lorcana deck. Let’s take a look at some of my favorites.

Combine the Illuminary Tunnels with John Silver – Greedy Treasure Seeker in a Location heavy deck for a lot of fun Location shenanigans. With Resist and extra lore, you’ll be on your way to victory in no time!

Play with the Sugar Rush Speedway combo and move characters from the Starting Line to the Finish Line to gain lore and draw cards. Hot Tip: Use Minnie Mouse – Pirate Lookout to bring your Locations back from your discard!

Sleepy Hollow will help you gain lore and give characters Evasive. Then use Get to Safety as a combo to bring that Location back for more! This could be especially fun in The Legend of Sleepy Hollow theme deck.

I love Flotilla for multi-player games—all opponents lose lore and you’ll gain lore at the start of every turn! Even in a 1v1 match, this Location can take opponents by surprise.

While this Location has been rotated out, you can still play McDuck Manor in Infinity format. And while this Location has no ability, it does give you two lore and has a whopping 9 Willpower! Just like Scrooge’s Vault, this Location is a tough nut to crack.

Who doesn’t love to draw cards? The Library is a great Location to help gain lore and draw cards with its ability. Combine characters that draw cards when they are banished like Diablo – Obedient Raven or Kuzco – Wanted Llama for even more card draw.

It can be really fun to play with Locations in your deck. Locations can take us to distant lands in Disney, and I hope Locations in Disney Lorcana takes you all the way to 20 lore!
