Quest to win with these Disney Lorcana Heroes

Quest to win with these Disney Lorcana Heroes

September 18, 2025

When it comes to Disney stories, there's one thing every tale needs: a hero!

Heroes are the characters we root for and the characters we imagine ourselves to be. Disney is full of some of my favorite heroes - characters like Robin Hood, Hercules, Anna from Frozen, or even Alice from Alice in Wonderland! These characters draw us in and have us on the edge of our seat waiting for them to defeat the villain, overcome challenges, or make their way back home.

You can find many heroes in Disney Lorcana, and with the power of the magical Inks, these glimmers are brought to life in new and fantastical ways. For example, Anna can be found as we know her in her Storyborn form as Anna – Braving the Storm. With a little bit of imagination, though, she is also Anna – True-Hearted, and gives your other heroes a little lore boost!

I set out on a quest to find some of my favorite heroes in Disney Lorcana and create a fun thematic deck around them, plus a few of their Allies. With glimmers from Fabled and previous Disney Lorcana sets, I have a fun deck to share with you I like to call Heroes Hurrah.

This Sapphire and Steel deck is built around synergies for glimmers with the Hero classification, as well as the Support keyword, and playing your heroes and Support characters to quest quickly and challenge your opponents’ glimmers.

Tiana – Diligent Waitress and Jasmine – Resourceful Infiltrator will start you off for one cost characters. Jasmine can also be good later in the game to give another character Resist +1 to help in a challenge.

With your two cost characters you’ll see some hero synergy start to pick up with Anna – Braving the Storm and Little John – Sir Reginald. Another hero, Prince Eric – Dashing and Brave, can help with early challenges as a Challenger +2.

Hercules - True Hero is a great Bodyguard to help protect your other characters so they can quest. For three cost characters, we also have Alice – Growing Girl and Alice – Savvy Sailer. Both Alice’s will help you quest for more lore, and Alice – Growing Girl also gives your other characters Support! Not only will this help boost Alice herself and gain more lore, but Support can also help you face opposing characters in a challenge with more strength.

One of my favorite cards in this deck is Philoctetes – No-Nonsense Instructor. Phil, for short, has fantastic synergy with your Hero characters, as does Anna - True-Hearted, while Kida – Creative Thinker is fantastic to filter through your deck and find the cards you need and add to your inkwell. Stitch – Alien Troublemaker is a Hero who wants to cause lots of trouble for your opponent and help you gain lore and draw cards.

To round out the characters in this deck we have Robin Hood – Champion of Sherwood, who is a champion of any Disney Lorcana deck, and Robin Hood – Unrivaled Archer. The Sapphire Robin Hood will give you some card draw and help you in challenges, especially if you face evasive characters. We also have Jasmine – Fearless Princess and Hercules - Beloved Hero, another Bodyguard. These characters also all quest for two lore, so, if you don’t need to challenge, they can help you quest to the finish line.

A couple of actions to round out this deck include One Last Hope, a great song action card which can give a character Resist +2 and allow a hero to challenge ready characters. There are also four copies of Smash to help deal damage and hopefully banish some opposing characters to help you keep questing.

Even though this is a theme deck, I always like to consider the cost curve and the breakdown of inkable cards. This deck has a really nice curve to help you play something each turn to keep a good tempo, especially if you can alter your opening hand well. There are only eight cards in this deck which are not inkable, so you shouldn’t get stuck with a handful of cards you can’t Ink.

Ideally, when you alter your opening hand, you’ll want to look for a one cost character, and either Anna – Braving the Storm or Prince Eric – Dashing and Brave for a two cost character. If you have Anna, then try and get Hercules – True Hero out on turn three to protect your characters. Alternatively, you could play Little John – Sir Reginald on turn three to give Prince Eric Resist +2 for a challenge. I would also recommend you keep a Smash in your opening hand to help deal with any opposing characters you might want to banish quickly.

This deck is not meant for competitive tournaments, but these Heroes are a lot of fun and I hope they can help you win some games during weekly play at your local game store, at your kitchen table, or wherever you gather with other Illumineers to immerse yourself in the realm of Lorcana as you challenge and quest your way to 20 lore!
