IT’S ALMOST PRERELEASE

Are you ready for Hyperia City?

The time for fantastical city living is soon upon us. And you know what that means—Prerelease events at your local game store are about to start. Let’s dive into what to expect. 

Prereleases let you enjoy the newest set before it’s available everywhere at mass retailers. Hosted at your local game store, these events let you meet up with fellow fans and be the first to discover the next Disney Lorcana TCG adventure. To participate, we recommend that you look for events near you at tcg.RavensburgerPlay.com. Make sure you make an account and sign up for an event to secure your spot. Then you just need to show up on October 16. 

 

PRERELEASE BOXES 

Hyperia City prerelease boxes will be available for purchase at your event. Inside, you’ll discover six booster packs, four damage dice, and one random promo card. In each new prerelease box, we like to include a special item to help immerse you in the set's story. For Hyperia City, we included a map of the town so you never get lost on your quest. 

 

WHAT PLAY FORMATS TO EXPECT 

As hinted above, the Prerelease Box will allow you to participate in your store’s gameplay sessions/competitions.  

Sealed is the most common format at Prerelease events. In this format, you will open six booster packs and put together a 40-card deck on the spot. You can use cards from all six inks and you don’t have to worry about the four glimmer per deck rule.  

Pack Rush is a beginner-friendly way to play that gives you a quick burst of questing fun. Requiring only two boosters, you will play with 24 cards and are not constrained to two inks. The marketing card in each pack are placed in your inkwell at the beginning of play and are used as ink. (You are already ahead of the game!) The round will follow standard rules, but instead of drawing seven cards at the start, you draw five. You also only need to collect 15 lore to claim victory. 

 

A FEW GAMEPLAY STRATEGIES 

Hyperia City introduces Disney and Pixar’s Coco to the game. But this isn’t all. Ink drops, special cards that give you a bit of temporary ink, are also making their debut. Here are just a few tips: 

  • As you might expect, the various glimmers inspired by Disney and Pixar’s Coco are interested in music and singing. Harness their tuneful and harmonizing abilities and you will be on your way to victory. 

  • Pay very close attention to when and how glimmers may allow you to make an ink drop. 

  • You may want to use ink drops at the start of a game to get character glimmers on the board as fast as possible. Or you could build up your reserves and deploy a high-cost card earlier than expected. 

No matter how you play, you will love discovering the fun and secrets of the city!
